Basic Education
and Literacy Services
To identify,
assemble, and make available resources useful in developing, implementing,
and maintaining literacy activities; to cooperate with other ALA divisions,
clusters, committees, and offices concerned with literacy and basic skills
activities in libraries; to assist the Office of Library Outreach Services
in providing information to public libraries about library literacy programs;
to make librarians aware of the value of cooperation with other agencies
in the formation and execution of literacy programs; to generate ideas
for cluster and committee programs and publications.
