More than 100 Programs to Be Offered at PLA National ConferenceFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE More than 100 continuing education programs will be offered during the Public Library Associations (PLA) Ninth National Conference, PLA 2002, to be held March 1216, 2002, in Phoenix, Arizona. Utilizing PLAs educational track system, conference-goers will be able to build schedules tailored to their specific information needs. Program tracks cover eleven areas of specialization: Running Your Library; Serving Adults; Creating Collections; Building for the Future; Serving Children; Serving Customers; Special Populations; Staff Development; Community Connections; Technology Trends; and Serving Young Adults. Talk table sessions, author luncheons, and tours of Phoenix and nearby sites are among the other conference activities planned to date. Preconferences on Marketing Research for Information Professionals; Weeding Library Collections; Managing Library Building Projects; Readers Advisory; Youth Development and the Public Library; Library Web Sites; and Storytelling are scheduled to be held immediately preceding the conference. In addition to these continuing education programs, the conference will feature more than 600 exhibits booths and a number of special exhibits events including an opening reception and coffee breaks scheduled throughout the conference.
